DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

AIMS OF PROGRAM
The aim of the International Relations masters program is to provide students with advanced level of theoretical and practical knowledge and competency on international relations as well as on its main subfields including regional studies. The program also aims to develop students’ oral, written and research skills as well as analytical and critical thinking skills.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Successful graduates of the programme will have the opportunity to seek employment in universities and strategic research organisations. as well as diplomatic areas, public institutions, international organisations, private companies with international connections and media.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
-Understand and analyze the major concepts of international relations,
-Identify the key actors in international relations—including states, intergovernmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, transnational corporations, global civil society, and individuals—and understand how these actors interact to give substance to international relations.
-Demonstrate knowledge of the multi-disciplinary nature of international relations by establishing connections with the disciplines that have shaped and continue to influence international relations: politics, economics, society, culture, history, language, race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality.
-Demonstrate skills of critical analysis and written and oral communication, including the ability to contact with the member of other cultures:
-Prepare, analyze substanstive volume reports and other documents.
-Become expert in a spesific area related with international relations.

EDUCATIONAL METHODS
- Lecturers teach/explain the topics using audio &visual tools during 1/3 of course time, 2/3 of it is conducted as seminar style in according to interactive method principles.
- Research based activities such as; doing presentation and writing article related with course subject are executed by the students.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
The program is composed of 7 courses (3 must & 5 elective courses), 24 credits, 1 Seminar (non-credit).
